The Wedding Guest

I’m lying to the man I’m about to marry. I’m not the woman he thinks I am. But my secret’s safe. Isn’t it?

I feel like the perfect bride as I drift across the beach towards my handsome new husband, the sand warm between my toes, my ivory slip wedding dress showing off my suntan. Today is the beginning of my new life. My dark past can no longer touch me.

When I reach my husband, we kiss against the perfect backdrop of the shimmering turquoise sea. The congregation clap and I turn to smile at them.

Then my smile freezes. I see
him. Sitting there amongst my loved ones. An uninvited guest who knows the truth about me and the terrible thing that happened ten years ago. The man who won’t ever let me be happy.

And as he steps forward, asking for everyone’s attention, my legs buckle. I know he wants to destroy my perfect new life.

But how can I stop someone who will never let me go? And how far will I go to keep my secrets?

My Review

This book is crazy! It was twist after twist! I honestly couldn't predict what was going to happen next. The suspense was incredibly tense. My heart was pounding, I was frightened at times. This book is highly recommendable and I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Shannon Betrayed From Birth

The full story of one of the most shocking crimes of the twenty-first century, now the subject of a BBC drama, The Moorside, starring Sheridan Smith.
On 19 February 2008, a nine-year-old girl disappeared while making her way home from a school swimming trip. The 999 call made by her mother alerted the police to the nine-year-old's disappearance and sparked the search for Shannon Matthews that spread from the Dewsbury estate where she lived across the north of England. The story dominated newspaper headlines and television news for the weeks that followed and there was even an offer of a GBP 50,000 reward for the person who found Shannon.
Twenty-four days later, Shannon was found, concealed in the base of a divan bed in a flat about a mile away from her home in West Yorkshire. The truth that unfolded over the subsequent weeks horrified the public, who had sympathised with the seemingly stricken mother and even helped in the search for Shannon. It transpired that the supposed kidnap of the innocent girl had been a wicked hoax dreamed up by her own mother, Karen Matthews, in league with an accomplice, her stepfather's uncle, Michael Donovan. For almost three weeks, she was kept hidden in his home and given temazepam and travel sickness tablets to subdue her. While Shannon suffered this horrendous ordeal, her captors came up with a plan to release her in Dewsbury Market, and for Donovan to find her and claim the reward money. Shannon was finally discovered when neighbours told police that they had heard a child's footsteps coming from Donovan's flat.

Shannon Matthews: Betrayed from Birth examines the investigation and its repercussions for an innocent girl caught in the lies and greed of those supposed to be caring for her and the community that they deceived

My Review
A true insight to the story of Shannon  Matthews. Which I found really horrific  and a true insight into her evil eyes. It’s  quite upsetting to know that somebody could do that to their own child. This book is definitely worth a read and I would highly recommend it.

The Girlfriend

My husband’s dead. She’s at my door. She owns my home…

The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her buttery blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms.

As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts.

She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I know this will be hard to hear. But I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.’

My world implodes. And then she tells me that she owns our home – and that she’s not going anywhere…

An utterly gripping psychological thriller from the number one bestselling author of The Marriage. If you like Gone GirlThe Girl on the Train and Lisa Jewell then you will be hooked by The Girlfriend.

The Bedroom Window

They say they have no children. So who did I see at the window?

My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together.

But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children, so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to? And why can I hear a lullaby drifting across the garden when I’m tucking my own boy into bed?

Then, one night,
I see a small shadowy figure in their bedroom window…

I thought I’d learned my lesson about trusting the wrong people, but now I’m forced to wonder what this perfect couple are hiding.

And if I try to save that little helpless figure in the window,
will I do what I’ve always feared most, and put my beautiful boy’s life in danger…?

An utterly gripping psychological thriller from the number one bestselling author of The Marriage and The Girlfriend. If you like Gone Girl, The Housemaid and Lisa Jewell then you will be hooked by The Bedroom Window.
